High achievers have learned how to center their attention on the right things at the right time for optimum results. When you focus your time and energy doing the things that you are most skilled at, you eventually reap big rewards. In an ideal world, we’d all be doing this right? But in real life, we have all kinds of responsibilities, opportunities and distractions that are constantly vying for our attention, making it impossible to focus on our brilliance.
Nevertheless, in order to be great and make a big impact, we must find the time to focus focus focus! As a serial entrepreneur, mother, wife and boss, I’ve set daily habits that enable be to spend time focusing on what is important in my business and life. Contrary to popular belief, it doesn’t take a lot of pomp and circumstance to get things done. These simple habits are the foundation that keeps everything in play. By sticking to my habits, I am able to achieve more and do more with keen focus on my goals.
The last few weeks of the year is prime time to forecast for the what’s next in business and in life. In order to start the year strong, one must take advantage of these moments get focus on future goals and plans.
Here are my top five success secrets to focus:
Clear the Clutter
Whenever I have a new project in the works, I start clearing the clutter in order to create a vacuum for something new. ideas and increase precede cleanliness. It is so much easier to focus when your environment is clutter free. The physical act of cleaning also triggers a mental cleanse as well. Your thoughts are better organized and you’ll become less stressed working in a clean environment.
Start clearing clutter where you work best. Clean your office, your bedroom the kitchen work space, your mail…where ever you go to retreat and think. I challenged several of my clients to clear the clutter as they were in for big surprises. One cleaned her office and organized her mail, only to discover a check for $9,000. Another reorganized his work space and finally finished his first draft of a new book in only a few days. Many people underestimate the power of clutter in their life. It can be a big road block to goal achievement. So, establishing a daily habit of cleaning will keep your mind free and clear to focus on what’s important.
Live by Lists
List writing has changed my life because the process of writing things on paper in list form makes me feel instantly relieved, empowered and keeps me focused throughout the day. I create lists for everything that I do on a regular basis like shopping, writing, marketing processes, and product creation. I write my list in my morning meditation time and mark off what I’ve accomplished throughout the day. Start living by lists, it will keep you focused. When your mind is cluttered with looming responsibilities and worries, writing a simple list can help you clear your mind, organize those thoughts on paper, and develop a plan to accomplish your goals.

Master Your Daily Routine
To maintain high levels of focus that result in high levels of achievement, you must fine tune your daily routine. It’s what you do consistently everyday that determines the outcome of your life, not what you do once in a while. As a busy wife, mother, and entrepreneur it’s essential for me to put daily rituals in place to keep my life and business running smoothly. Meditation should be a part of every entrepreneur’s routine. Also take time to journalize, say positive affirmations, eat well and get the proper rest. Super-successful people usually don’t get to where they are by accident. They have on-purpose, daily habits for success that set them apart.
Become a Finisher
Uncompleted tasks rob you of your concentration and leave you feeling constantly overwhelmed. I do my best to avoid pushing today’s unfinished tasks onto tomorrows to-do list. It’s not uncommon for my team and I to work late into the evening so that we can start the next day with a fresh focus.
Manage Your time
Start the day with a written script. In my productivity planner I write down what I must get done and the income I want to attract daily, then I manage my time accordingly. If I’m working on Success Mastery notes or on my new book, I’ll set my timer for 90 minutes, sit a bottle of water next to me and work. No matter what, I don’t allow anything or anyone to distract me -all phone calls emails and texts can wait until my timer goes off. This helps me to stay focused and get the most important things done. It’s important to add structure to your day and don’t just allow everything that comes your way to determine how your 24 hours plays out.
Write Your Goals
I challenged my team to write their 101 goals BEFORE the new year started. So as a team, we committed an evening to pulling out our Success Journals and filling in 101 goals in various areas like our career, personal health, family, relationships and so on. We met a few days afterwards and found out that we were already starting to attract solutions and tools to bring those goals to pass. When you focus on your goals by writing them down now, you put yourself ahead of the game. You may come across early sales on items you need for your health and fitness goals. Or when asked what you want for Christmas you can ask for items in line with your goals for next year. Focusing on your goals now will make a big difference in how you start your year.
Post Success triggers
To help me stay focused and visualize the goals that are most important to me right now, I fill my living and work space with what I call success triggers. These are visual reminders of what I’m currently striving for. Once, when focusing on getting new clients I wrote client 1…client 2, client 3… onto separate stickies until I reached client 10. Then, I gave my ideal description to each one of the stickies. I then posted the stickies on empty file folders, and placed them in a cabinet that I left open to remind me of all the new clients I was getting. This success attraction action empowered me to get more than 10 new clients who fit the descriptions that I listed on the stickies! Using success triggers to stay focused is a simple yet powerful way to get results.

I like the concept of writing goals but for me, I never get to see them fulfilled as I would like. I think it’s because I skip the “Manage your time” step but I’m not sure. I sometimes get carried away with the wrong daily habits but I now have this post as my homepage and my constant reminder. Stay focused!
