We love the holidays around here. These times are always so full of joy and excitement as our close friends and family gather. There will be lots of turkey eating at our house and tons of festivities happening all day today on Thanksgiving!
In my experience, I have learned that practicing a continual “attitude of gratitude” opens the flood gates of prosperity from every direction in your life. It’s just a fact and a law, both natural and supernatural—when we express gratitude (to people who have touched our lives) or gratitude to God for the things that we have, we open ourselves up to the natural laws of abundance to receive more and more.
This is perhaps my biggest manifestation secret!
And to stay in a grateful state, and thus in a constant flow of abundance, I use my Success Journal to write gratitude lists and notes daily. On the bottom of each journal page there’s a spot to write what you’re grateful for. My list is often a lot longer than that so I just write it on an entire page.
I’m going to share with you a few ways to keep your own gratitude lists and notes in your journal so that you too can experience a continual flow of breakthroughs and abundance!
1. Meditate on being grateful.
Take about five minutes to focus on reasons why you are grateful. Really consider the reasons and why they mean so much to me. For gratitude to improve your life, it must be sincere. Thinking about your life and how blessed you are will give you a chance to get sincere even before recording your thoughts in a journal.
2. Record your gratitude list in your journal.
The best way to do this is by regularly writing down what you are thankful for. Each night, think back through your day and write everything you are grateful for; every victory, whether big or small. Doing this will heighten your awareness to all the good things that are happening in your life and business — and when you are focused on the good, you will attract more of it. Every night I write a gratitude list and review it each morning. Thankfulness is the key to happiness. It builds your awareness and fosters humility as well as empowers you to continue on your success track.
3. Keep a running list of people who you have help you on life’s journey.
Remember those who have given you advice, favor or an opportunity to take your life to the next level. Often, we can get so caught up in the pursuit, we never stop to say thank you to those who’ve helped along the way. When you start acknowledging and showing gratitude to others, you will find that more and more doors of opportunities will open for you.
One of my clients expressed gratitude to a donor at an event and that donor introduced her to 10 more potential donors, encouraging each of them to partner with her non-profit organization.
4. Give 10 reasons why.
Sometimes it’s easy to write a one liner of what or whom we’re grateful for. Yet, digging deeper will have a greater impact on your life. So write 10 reasons why you are grateful for whatever you’ve listed.
One of my clients helped her husband advance on his job by reminding him daily to only share what good happened at work. At first, it was a hard task, because he was used to expressing his frustrations as a part of “winding down” after a long day at work. Yet, she stayed on him, and eventually he started to see more and more things that went right in his day. By expressing the good instead of the bad, this guy improved his attitude, saw more opportunities for increase and quickly rose to the top in his company.
5. Savor surprises.
Take the time to really account and express gratitude for the surprises of life that have truly touched you. Try to capture the moment while you can still feel the original emotions of its impact on you. Later you’ll reflect on these journal entries with excitement.
During this season as we celebrate the joy of giving along with our friends and family, it’s a great time to reflect on all that we have to be grateful for. Expressing gratitude now will also prepare you to bring in the new year on a fast track to success. I’ve learned that positivity is a force. When you focus on being grateful and refuse to allow negativity to capture your thinking, amazing things happen.
Keeping daily gratitude lists in your journal focuses you to pay attention to the good things in life that we’d normally take for granted, and activates a flow of abundance that never ceases. Make a point to pay attention to gratitude-inspiring moments every day and record them in your journal.
