Ok but let’s cut to the chase. Be honest–Have you tried journaling and yet you have empty journals sitting around? Same. What’s written is real! Successful people use journals because they understand that there are dozens of benefits to journaling and writing things down. Even in this digital age, putting pen to paper is key for self-improvement, wealth building and achievement.
Want to improve your memory? Write it down in your journal. In 2014, the Association of Psychological Science reported that students who physically took notes received a memory boost – particularly when compared to those who took notes via a laptop.
Want to keep stress at bay? Write out your thoughts and create a plan of action in your journal. For over all stress reduction, keep a gratitude notes in your journal- which I’ll talk more about in a bit.
Want to spark your creative genius? Scientific evidence supports that journaling can help. Write in your Journal daily (at least 20 minutes is best). The act of writing accesses your left brain, which is analytical and rational. While your left brain is occupied, your right brain is free to be creative and intuitive. So the great news is, writing in your journal helps you push past mental blocks and pump up your brainpower.
Successful people from all walks of life are well versed in all the perks of penning your thoughts though journaling. Some of the greatest minds of our time (and many of the most famous ones) diligently kept journals while making history.

5 Reasons wealthy people write in Journals
Capture brilliant ideas
Before there was Star Wars, creator George Lucas was working on little movie called American Graffiti. While working on this small AG project, he was keeping notes that became the first draft for, A New Hope, his first Star Wars movie. As they were working, the sound designer asked George to hand him R2D2, which was industry lingo for Reel 2 Dialogue 2. Mr. Lucas liked the sound of it and jotted R2D2 down in his journal. Who knew that a few years later R2D2 would become one of the most iconic characters of the 8.2 billion dollar Star Wars franchise?!
Ask the Right Questions
I believe it’s best to START your day with intention and scripting out your success. Writing in your journal, asking God questions, then making notes of what you hear within. Doing this first thing in the morning makes room for a lot of things to go your way throughout the course of your day. This practice also puts you on alert to expect great things.
In the morning ask your questions and be specific in your request. You can ask questions like:
“Please help me to discover the title of my new book.’
“What trades should I engage in today?”
“How can I make today more profitable?”
“What’s the next product I should create?
“Who should I contact today?”
“Where’s my $1000, $10,000 … $100,000?
…Or whatever heartfelt question is connected to what you currently want to manifest.
Start your day with writing specific question(s), in your journal then continue to say “God show me throughout the day.”
Plan your Profits and your Future
Every day I write in my journal my plans for being profitable. I often write, “how I plan to make money today” then list what I already have planned as well as to do’s that come to mind in the moment. One of my top-level clients in our Success Mastery 24k club turned her business around with this one key! At the beginning of the year she heard me talking about this practice and decided to purchase Success Journals for her entire team. She required all of her leaders to start the day with a similar journal entry, “How will I make this company money today?” doing this daily made them more mindful of what tasks were really adding to their bottom line. By the second quarter company profits were up thirty percent. Never underestimate what can happen when you use your journal to plan your profits and focus on your future.
Oprah winfrey, Tony Robbins and Ariana Huffington all talk about the importance keeping a gratitude journal or list for long-term success.According to Harvard Health Gratitude helps people feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships.I never go to sleep without writing a list of things that I am grateful for. Wealth is not just monetary, its having peace of mind and a happy heart which starts with being grateful.
Que sera, sera? Whatever will be will be? No; not a fan of this concept. Take control of your life by writing your success story. Scripting your dreams, goals and desired outcomes in your journal makes the words come alive. Every time you see and read it, you crystallize your future and fast track the manifestation process for your dreams and goals.
Take some time to imagine your future life scenes as though they have already happened and write it over and over in your Journal until it manifests.
- Write down what your perfect day would look like from the moment you opened your eyes until you’ve gone to bed.
- Write the day in past tense. Your subconscious accepts something as truth much faster if you write it down as if it already happened in the past tense.
- When you write with enthusiam as if it’s already happened, your mind will not only accept this but create the memories for you by causing these things to manifest in real life.
Successful people believe in the power of writing things down. I have a friend of mine who is very successful in trades and investments. He shared with me that he notes what he wants first thing in the morning. Then expects to be profitable–everyday!
I couldn’t agree more. Every day I get up in the morning and plan to have a successful day. I pull out my Success Journal, rewrite or review my “I Am” bio and fill in my meditation notes. Then I write out my desired outcome for the day.
- If I have an important meeting with potential new clients I script my successful outcome.
- If I’m negotiating a huge business deal that day I script out my successful outcome.
- If I have a speaking engagement or I’m launching a new product I script my successful outcome.
I no longer leave important things to chance, I write the vision and make it plain.
Journaling has created a life of success for me. It took me from hopes of having to what I wanted.
I’ve been journalizing since the age of thirteen and I KNOW this works, so I keep my journal with me constantly.
In the morning as soon as I wake up, I speak words of gratitude and write down the first thoughts or ideas that come to mind. If I’ve had a dream that seems significant, I’ll write down as many details as I can remember. I truly believe that God is not required to repeat himself, so I keep my Success Journal handy to record any divine insight.Imagine if Madam CJ walker woke up and never wrote down her now groundbreaking formula for “Madam Walker’s Wonderful Hair Grower”? A woman born to slaves and orphaned at age 14, Madam CJ said the formula was given to her in a dream. Those journal notes eventually made her a millionaire.
When God speaks write it down!
