5 Easy tips to Setting Goals and Achieving Them

Your business success depends on your ability to consistently set goals for your company. You can fast track your dreams and accomplish twice as much in less time when you set goals. 

1. Write a list of what you want.

As business owners you should keep ongoing lists of goals you want to accomplish in your business and your life. You can use your goals list to dream big and envision the future of your business. Goals keep you moving in the direction of your dreams. Your first assignment is to write 101 goals as fast as you can in only five minutes. Set a timer for 5 minutes and write down 101 goals you want to accomplish in business and life. Don’t hold back or edit your goals, just write down what you really want.

2. Write your goals with a clear picture in mind.

Set goals that are specific enough so you know exactly what you want to make, then make sure your goals can be measured so you can track your progress. Create monthly goals that you can actually achieve in a 30-day time frame.  Set the goal high enough to stretch yourself but low enough that you don’t give up before you start.

 3. Write money goals for your business.

Set financial goals for your business if you want to start making the money you’ve dreamed of. Take time to consider every aspect of money in your business and write goals about:

The elements your goals must
have to manifest!

Conceivable

Believable

Achievable

Measurable (how much and by when)

Controllable (something you have control over)

 
  • What you want to make
  • What you want to save
  • What you want to buy
  • What you want to give to charity
  • What you want to build or leave behind.

 4. Write measurable specific goals.

Instead of writing, “I will own a home someday.” Write your goals to be specific enough that you can actually work towards them with a deadline. Here’s an example: “I’m going to attend the Women’s Success Conference in Orlando, FL. I will have more than enough money to get all the resources I need for my business and have an amazing time!”

Can you see a clear picture of this goal? You can imagine it coming to life. This is how all of your goals should be. If you can SEE it you can ACHIEVE it. 

 

5. Accelerate your manifestation with goal cards.

You can also use a goal card to attract ONE BIG THING into your life.  I want to give you more insight on the power of using goal cards… My clients use goal cards to accelerate goal achievement because it allows you to take a visual of your goals with you everywhere you go. Goal cards are small enough that you can tape them to your computer, your bathroom mirror, refrigerator or anywhere you can frequently see it.

One of the most important parts of achieving your goals is actually meditating on them. With your goal card, you can see your end result. The more you see it, the more you will work towards reaching it.  You can keep your goal in sight and on your mind when you put them on goal cards.

There is tremendous power in knowing what you want. Live each day by your goals list and you’ll quickly accomplish twice as much as your peers and soar to great heights living your dream life.

I had some clients who planned to attend the conference, but wanted to free up some cash so that they could not only attend the conference, but also have money available to purchase products and have a great experience while there. In our coaching session, I shared with them my sure fire way of raising capital FAST. It’s really a simple method that I use all the time….

1. Total your costs of the event. (registration, travel, food, fun)
2. Write that number down.
3. Write a clear and concise goal statement on a card and post it up where you can see it all the time.

BONUS STEP:
The last step I gave them activated their intention and accelerated the process of reaching their goal.

I told them to write a list of 40 ways to make money.  Think of every way possible to make money..don’t limit your thinking. Don’t make up excuses…JUST WRITE THE LIST!
No answer is the wrong answer (except of course, any illegal activity like robbing a bank).

Post the list some where you can see it often. Then begin to take action on one or many of the ideas you come up with…

1. Open your mind to creative ways to generate income
2. Build your faith to accomplish your goals. I guarantee you this list will become MAGNETIC and cause you to attract the money into your life because you are focused on achieving the goal.
3. Motivates you to take action and get REAL results!

 If you’ve been stuck in a rut and feeling like you need something to happen quickly for you, then you need instant shift. I’m going to share with you 4 ways you can make things happen in your life right now. They are simple keys to implement and bring about great results.

1. Start before you’re ready. Don’t wait until every thing is lined up perfectly.  It’ll never happen. There are no perfect conditions. If you want to get something done you have to just start. Start when you get the idea and you know that this is something you are supposed to do. Go ahead and start your book! In the video I share a big secret to getting your book project done in a short time. This one secret will give you the motivation you need to deliver.

2. Stop second-guessing yourself.  Many times you may experience resistance when you decide to improve your life and come up to another level. You many buy a new program or register for an event and then start thinking if you made the right decision. You start second guessing yourself and conversing with the naysayers who don’t understand the decision you made. They just want you to stay like them.  Turn off the critics and know that if you are going to advance in life you must make an investment.

3. See it in your Mind’s Eye.  I believe you have to see it and believe it before you manifest it. Sometimes it’s good to think and meditate about your vision and goals before sharing them with others. Spend time in the morning meditating on how you want the outcome to be. Dream big and consider the questions I ask in the video above and write the answers in your journal.

4. Show Up.  There are places in your life that you are supposed to be at. If you have to be seen in order to be considered. Which also means, you have to show up.  Don’t let all the little things in life get in the way of you showing up where you need to be in order to accomplish your goals.

Excuses kill your destiny. When you allow excuses to flood your mind and clutter your path you will end up in the same place you’ve always been in.

The job market is very competitive for everyone regardless of age. However companies are hiring, they are looking for candidates that show ability to multitask, candidates that have updated technological skills and critical and creative thinkers. Most importantly, your ability to attract employment comes from within. If you believe in yourself and that you will get a job, you will.

You’ve may have seen me on the Steve Harvey show sharing helpful advice to women in their 20′s, 30′s, 40′s and 50′s on how to emotionally deal with finding a job in a competitive job market. On the show I give each lady insight on their situation and valuable tips to help them shift their perspective and improve their situation. Below I’m sharing my full advice (only a little can be shared online) But this information is good for anyone struggling in the job market.

Twenty-year-olds looking for work, often have only a little experience. Which is okay, because that is expected of you. Many times young people get advanced degrees hoping to gain a competitive edge. However, advanced degrees are common place now. Here’s the advice I shared with Daneille on the show…

To accomplish yourself academically only to find out that no employers are interested in what you have to offer is very damaging. To spend hours each day applying for jobs only to hear nothing back is very frustrating…

Here are a few things you can do to deal with the overwhelming feelings of rejections that may arise …

1. Get out socially and connect with others. You can host personal potluck with your friends, consider it free therapy. Each week or every other week you and a few of your friends or other people on campus that are dealing with the same thing can come together, bringing a piece of encouraging advice to the group night. For instance, someone could bring “5 companies looking for employees.”

2. Find a passion partner; someone who is encouraging and feels passionate about you finding a job. A lot of times when you are going through a stressful time in your life you just need someone that you can bounce things off of, someone who will act as a sounding board and will give you an encouraging pep talk. You and your passion partner can call each other once a week and do nothing but strictly talk each other up. This way you know you’re not alone and there is someone else rooting for you!

3. Post sticky notes all around you with positive affirmations on them. Rejection will take shots at your self worth. Seeing positive messages around you reminds you that you are a worthy candidate for a job. Make 5 sticky notes with empowering messages to yourself on them and post one on your bathroom mirror, nightstand, refrigerator, computer, etc. Every time you see the stickies say out loud what you have written. This will keep you emotionally feeling positive about your job search.
For example, you can write: “I am an irresistible hire!” “I get call backs every day from recruiters who are ready to hire me!”

Overall advice for people in their twenties: You’re just starting your career. Don’t shrink back, even though you may get “no’s” and doors don’t open immediately; stay focused on your true desires and what you really want. Don’t take “no” or not getting your ideal job as a sign that what you desire is not really for you. Instead, KEEP MOVING FORWARD, KEEP HONING YOUR SKILLS, KEEP GETTING BETTER AT WHAT YOU DO UNTIL YOUR BIG BREAK COMES. Big breaks always tend to come when you keep moving in the direction towards them.

Steve Harvey Show Guests, seek advice on how to get hired and emotionally deal with job hunting stress

To be unemployed desperately searching for work in your 30′s is disheartening, because you’re at the age where you may feel that you’re supposed to be established by now. However, sometimes a setback is a setup for a comeback. This is the perfect time to consider EVERY option of bringing in income. Maybe you’ve been thinking of working from home. You can start a business with little to no income. For Allastir on the Steve Harvey show, she’s a very talented beautiful lady who does have aspirations of starting a business. Here’s my full advice to her and other women in their 30′s.

When you’ve taken a few hits personally and professionally it can push you into disbelief that there is no way out of your situation…but there is! It’s starts with forming a new vision for yourself.

1. The first thing you should do is create a vision board for your future; what your ideal career look like.
Use magazines and search online for photos and words that represents your ideal life and career. Gather images that really mean something to you. Place this board where you can see it often and spend time meditating on it.

You can also open a free account on Pinterest to create an online vision board as well and keep it private if you want.

A vision board adds clarity and direction in your life, especially when everything seems like it’s going wrong. There’s nothing wrong with looking at the bright side when times are tough. Your vision board gives you a picture of what’s possible and helps you focus your mental energy towards your true desires.

Within the next week, create your vision board whether it’s a physical one or digital one on Pinterest. Visualize that you have a job. Everyday see and say “I’m not jobless, I’m in a new job!”

2. Cut yourself some slack. During this time, it’s important that you take care of yourself mentally as well as physically so that you don’t wear yourself down. Keep the faith and be optimistic. Take some time daily to read good positive books or watching positive movies. A lot of times, while engaging in this type of stress free activity you’ll discover answers to what your next move should be.

Overall advice for people in their thirties: Not having a job can bring feelings of shame— but don’t hide GET OUT! Continue to socialize. Don’t let unemployment weaken your networking efforts. Go to events and free social gatherings. INTERACTING WITH OTHERS CAN KEEP YOU LIVELY AND HOPEFUL AND BOOST YOUR SELF-CONFIDENCE. You have to be seen, in order to be considered. You may very well stumble upon your next Opportunity while you are out meeting new people.

Stacia weighing in on shifting your thinking to attract a job on The Steve Harvey Show with Steve Harvey and Stephen Viscusi

For people in their 40′s, Being out of work for so long can put you in a slump and lower your confidence. You can easily fall into a mundane unproductive routine while life is passing you by. The key is to stay active and progressive while searching for new employment. Here’s the full advice I have for Wanda and other 40-somethings looking to get back to work.

1. Consider doing volunteer work to help you feel accomplished and productive. Unemployment can wear on your self-esteem and make you feel useless. Volunteering helps you maintain a sense of value and purpose. And helping others is an instantaneous mood booster. Volunteering can also provide career experience, social support, and networking opportunities that can get you a job.

2. Meditate 15 minutes every morning. Take time to visualize your outcome of getting a call back and a yes. Rehearse over and over in your head, the phone ringing, the call being upbeat and positive and someone telling you that you have the job with salary you desire. When you keep getting faced with “no’s” you have to frame your future and see your desired outcome. Soon you’ll get a call and hear, “Yes, you have the job!”

3. Act “as if”: To keep yourself emotionally stable during a period of long-term unemployment, live each day as if you were already working. Create a schedule—humans thrive on routines.

Imagine if you were working from home: plan your day as such. For example get up early, make calls, send out resumes, respond to emails. Take a lunch break, then in the afternoon, follow-up on any leads. Right before dinner watch an inspiring show like Steve Harvey and conclude with listening to your positive audio programs or reading a good book. It’s important that you maintain a fairly consistent schedule. Often I’ve seen clients who create a schedule like they were working, soon after they got calls to work.

Overall advice for people in their forties: Self-esteem comes from self-improvements, true assessment and a lot of determination. This is a great time to pull out your positive self-help books and audio programs and immerse your self. What you think about, you will become. Half of the battle of getting a job is MINDSET. When you feed yourself daily with positive information, you will remain in the frame of mind that “I can do this! It’s going to work out okay for me, and I have what it takes!”

Looking for work when you are advanced age, the main thing you need is support to help you gain a sense of community and deal with loneliness you may be feeling on top of the stress of finding work.

For Pier and other women in their 50’s, presentation is everything. You want to look and feel your best when going into your interviews and be confident when you present yourself. Sometimes that means fixing any area that makes you feel uncomfortable. While you’re working on your health and weight loss, I encourage you to try shape wear like Spanx to give you a flattering figure.

Here’s a few more things you can do.

1. Stay active and grounded by not isolating yourself.  Join a support group. Find a network with others who have similar situations and can encourage you during this time. A support group will give you the lift you need to continue on and other members of the group can offer ideas and suggestions for strategies that you hadn’t considered. 

2. Create goal cards for your health, employment and your family. It’s good to write down your goals. It will help to eliminate some of the anxiety to trying to get a job. Goals actually help people overcome depression as well because it gives you hope for your future.

3. Start a light exercise routine, such as walking to reduce stress and improve your health. Get outdoors, go for a walk or do some gardening—just do something that lifts your spirits. Adding a regular exercise boosts your self-confidence and helps you build up a stronger level of resilience against stress. When you start working on your mind and body, it will build your confidence and once you start feeling better about yourself, everything will open up for you. This will shift your negative emotions that can keep you from being proactive in your job hunt.

4. Laugh out loud. There are incredible health benefits in laughter. Humor relieves stress, causes you to think optimistically and boost your endorphins. If you are able to laugh at life’s frustrations, you can increase your immunity. Try once a week watching funny movies that lift your spirits. This will have a great overall impact on your health situation.

Overall advice for people in their fifties: Don’t give up.  At this age it’s easy to feel obsolete because of your advanced age.  But look on the bright side; you have a lot of lifestyle skills as well as work skills to offer. Make a list of all the positives of your advanced age. Remind yourself daily that your age is an asset, not a liability.

My parting thoughts for all job seekers:

Fill the void in your life by DOING WHAT YOU LOVE. Put away stress of unemployment for a moment and imagine the life you want, not focusing the employment, but on the life you REALLY want. What does it entail you doing? Find a no-cost or low-cost way to incorporate doing the activities that you are passionate about. There’s always great satisfaction in engaging in activities that you enjoy. Often people have discovered that when they start doing more of what they love, their passion leads them to making money freelancing or by starting their own business. Some of the most profitable and enjoyable businesses come out of a time of desperation.

Keep a positivity journal. In my research, I’ve found that people, who keep journals when they are unemployed, return to work faster than those who don’t. Make a list of all the things you like about yourself. Include your skills, accomplishments, successes, and work you’ve done that you are proud of. Revisit this list at night, before going to bed to remind yourself of your strengths and to activate good thoughts and sweet sleep.

4 Ways to Get More Clients and Build Your List

Whether you are running your business online or it’s brick and mortar, if you want to grow your business, you need a way to stay in touch with your prospects and customers.

Big businesses and small businesses alike need constant communication with customers to create loyalty and keep them coming back for more.  The most inexpensive, cost-effective, efficient way to keep in touch is through email. Since everyone has an email address, your goal is to collect as many as you can from your ideal clients and accumulate a list of people who want to hear from you, like your products or are at the least, interested in what you have to offer.

 The fastest and most effective way to build your list with your ideal clients are as follows:

1. LIVE EVENTS: Build your lists from live events…from your own event or when you are a guest speaker at other conferences or events. Live events allow people a chance to get to know you better and learn from you up close. This helps to build the relationship and they are more likely to bring others who think like them to your events as well. You can build your list at your own events with new registrations and from others by making an irresistible offer that will entice them to sign up with you on the spot as well.

2. SUPER ENTICING OFFER ON YOUR WEBSITE: Everyone has a free offer, you have to make yours super enticing so you can stand out. Give high value information that makes people feel connected and obligated to get more information from you.  These types of gifts will draw your ideal clients to you because they’ll come seeking more info from you.

ASSIGNMENT: Think of five things that you would want someone to give you free, then take one and turn it into an irresistible marketing offer.

3. SOCIAL MEDIA CONVERSION: Convert your social media friends and fans into your mailing list as well.  You can do this with great posts and tweets and special offers that lead back to your site and encourage them to sign up for your free offer.

4. NETWORKING: Overall, the best people on my list came from meetings in person. Get out and network and connect with others in person and share with them what you do and always tell them something that will lead them back to your site. Use your business card as a marketing tool by adding a free offer to entice prospects to visit your site. 

This is a great time for networking because of the frequent special occasions (weddings, graduations, showers, etc.) some of my best clients have come from these type of gatherings. Has your side-business reached a place where you’re strongly considering stepping out into full-time entrepreneurship? Congratulations! This can be very exciting! However, if you want to take the leap and fly, you’ll need a plan in place to help you soar.

While making this big transition can be both exciting and frightening, there is a way to smoothly transition into a full-time business.

Set Up an Exit Plan. When you strike out on your own, there will come a moment when you realize that there’s no security blanket and you are solely responsible for generating income to live on.  To ensure you can sustain while in transition, consider what you pay now and create a plan to generate, at the least, this amount of income on a monthly basis for at least 3-6 months. Save this income to use over the first few months of your transition.

The biggest key to running a business is making money. The only way to make money is through marketing your business. You will need an annual marketing and promotion strategy that spells out how you plan to generate business throughout the year.  Having this plan will serve as a foundation for how you spend time marketing your business, monthly, weekly and daily.

 Some ideas you should have on your income generating list:

  1. Weekly newsletter
  2. Speaking engagements
  3. Products
  4. Ebooks
  5. Seminars, etc.
  6. Social media marketing and networking

Surround yourself with “get it” people. Connect with a mentor and join a coaching program that provides support for you as you grow your business. The right coach can help you excel in half the time of just winging it all on your own.

Get out to live events. It’s very important to be very social. Not only do you need to continue to meet people to gain new clients, but you also need to be around other like-minded business owners. Live events are the perfect place to network and fill up on valuable information and resources that can save you a lot of time and frustration.

Your business evolves as you evolve, the quicker you acquire the right information and implement it into your business, the faster you’ll start having tremendous success.

Since I’ve been on the Ultimate Success Tour, I’ve been asked one particular question several times: How do I take my business from ordinary to extraordinary?

Here are two simple action steps you can apply to your life to go from ordinary to exraordinary:

First, take massive action if you want to have an extraordinary business. When I first got started, I used to wait around for something big to happen for me. Finally I got an aha moment. I realize that I would never accomplish my goals and get to where I wanted to be if I didn’t get up and start taking action every single day.

Here’s how you do it:

  • Create a plan to pursue your goals and dreams pertaining to your business.
  • Show up where you are supposed to be. (At conferences, seminars and events to get answers and make connections)
  • When an answer comes your way, you take advantage of it. Many times you can get the answer to your problems, but you still don’t take advantage of the opportunity that presents itself. During our Orlando tour stop, we had some people who decided at the very last moment that they wanted to attend the event. But it was too late. We packed the place to capacity and had to close registration. They didn’t take massive fast action and missed the opportunity. I don’t want that to be you. When event and seminar opportunities come up for you, don’t put off what you could easily take action on right away.  Secure your spot and do whatever it takes to show up. When you show up, you’ll be so glad you came and your mindset will never be the same.
  • Stop Procrastinating. Don’t be a last minute person.  It affects your dreams, goals and manifestations. Everything will come to you the same way that you take action. If you are slow to take action that means everything will be slow to come to you.

Secondly, go the extra mile to find out what you don’t know.  Most dreams die between what to do and how to do it.  There are some things that you can do that can cause extraordinary success in your business and life. These things are usually what you don’t know and need to go the extra mile to figure it out. 

Sometimes you just don’t know what you need to know. The key to discovering valuable information that you would have otherwise never learned is to show up in the right places at the right time.  There’s information, systems, anecdotes, strategies that will never be put in a book, worksheet or a blog post. You just have to be there to get it.

There are places you are supposed to be, things you are supposed to be a part of, connections you are supposed to make and people you are supposed to meet.  When you show up in the right place, that’s where you find out that information.

Now, in order to get this information you’ll have to stop all excuses and go the extra mile.  On the other side of your excuses are your answers. When you stop making excuses and take massive action, you’ll get a breakthrough in your business and life.

5 Easy Tips to Get More Clients Referrals

Looking to get more clients? You don’t have to go far for help. The best way to attract new clients is by engaging your current clients. Referrals are the tried and true way of growing your business. The best leads you’ll ever get are from happy, satisfied clients who tell their network of your services.  When your client gives you a good referral, they sell your new prospect on the benefits of your services.  Raving reviews can ultimately result in sales. When the referred prospect shows up ready to buy, all you have to do is deliver!

Yes, it can be just that easy.

The key is getting your clients to spread the word and actively promote your products and services. It’s a fairly easy process, and what I’ve found is the easier you make it for them to engage, the more success you’ll have.

 

1. Just Ask. Most people are willing to help others and often they are already thinking of someone who would love your product or service just as much as they do. Establish a policy in your business to ALWAYS ask clients, “Do you know of others who may want to use our services?”   Then provide them with an easy way to share this information with you. If they offer names, ask the person if it is okay for you to contact them personally or would they prefer to pass your business card along to them.

2. Give to Get. Offer incentives for referrals. Most people love gifts and incentives. The key is to engage all parties. If you own a salon, you can offer your client half price services when they bring a friend with them. Or you can create a 2 for 1 special, family and friends promotions, etc. 

3. Provide Top-Notch Excellent and Thoughtful Services when you have recurring clients whom you have become friendly with. Wow them with a special surprise that shows you value their patronage.

4.  Share Socially.  On your website, place social media sharing buttons in plain visible site where it’s easy for your clients to spread the word with others. Add this line above or below your share buttons to increase your chances of getting referred:

“Love our products? Share with your friends.”

5. Say Thank You: Follow up with a simple email, postcard or a call to say thank you once the product or service has been delivered. To further the success of the personal contacts, do the following:

  • POSTCARD: Say thank you and offer a free gift when they return with a friend.
  • EMAIL: Say thank you and provide a link to forward your services to their friends (with a special code discount)
  • PHONE: Give a sincere “thank you” and remind them to tell friends and family about your business and services.

Many companies plan “friends and family days” in their marketing calendars to attract new customers. Some offer cash incentives or deluxe services and extra products.  You can also host an event and ask your clients to bring guests. There are countless ways to engage with your clients and ask them to bring in their friends next time. 

Always remember, as long as you are providing top-notch quality service that leaves a lasting impression, your clients will gladly sing your praises to others.
