Five of my Favorite Keys to Wealth and Wellness

Can you believe how fast this year flew by? Going into a new year is a great time to remind yourself of your value and the importance of investing in your self-care. Self-care for entrepreneurs and all my fellow boss babes is essential for wealth building. When you feel good, you produce more. I’m not talking about simply getting a bucket load of beauty products, (though I will share with you some of my faves); but also setting an intention on making time to continuously nurture your spirit, mind and body throughout the year.

I set an intention for 2018 to be even more mindful of the care and keep of me and to encourage my loved ones to do the same. I’ve been so passionate about it lately that I even decided on a self-care theme of self-care for my gift giving at Christmas time. I gave my entire team self care packages. Pink travel bags to carry essential oils, organic beauty products, diffusers, essential oils. Fitness products—the works!Remember, self-care isn’t fluff or selfish it’s vital. It’s being present and tending to yourself so that you can be better and perform better  in all areas of your life.  You must take care of yourself first. You serve others out of the overflow of your self care.  Just an extra 30-60 minutes of caring for yourself can make you a more loving, productive and confident person.

Start the year with an intention and actions steps to upgrade your self-care to promote wellness and wealth throughout the new year. By no means is this list all inclusive. These are just a few of my favorite practices that help me feel my best so I can increase my bottom line.

Clear the Clutter
Clutter is the enemy to your mind and your over all thinking process. Whether it’s mental or physical, disorder and clutter literally bothers your brain. Studies at UCLA’s Center on Everyday Lives and Families concluded that clutter has a significant effect on one’s mood and self esteem especially in women.

Clutter thwarts your creativity, lowers your energy, promotes fatigue and dampens your mood. Value yourself enough to keep your environment tidy so you can make room for fresh new blessings and levels of success.Clear physical spaces such as closet clutter, bedroom clutter, kitchen clutter, project clutter and create a vacuum for increase! Mental clutter must go as well.

Clear mental clutter by:
• Powering off. Abandon your phone and laptop for a little while everyday to enjoy a bit of silence.
• Taking a thought walk outside and getting fresh air.
• Eating and sleeping well so your brain is nourished and rejuvenated.
• Stopping to breath deeply at least three times a day to add oxygen and strengthen the attention muscle in your brain.

Take care of your brain and your body by bringing order to your work and living spaces. Get rid of the clutter. It only takes a few quick, simple adjustments to clear your mind and surroundings. Decluttered space feels good to your brain and your spirit because you’re wired for order. In fresh clean areas your mind is free to create, imagine, generate profitable ideas, be divinely inspired and problem solve.

Create a rest routine
As an entrepreneur, success coach, keynote speaker, author, mom and wife, getting a full good nights rest is rare. So I’ve taken measures to ensure the quality of my rest, even if I can’t ensure the quantity of it.

Haphazardly going to bed can affect the quality of your sleep. Which in turn can cause you to awake from your bed or nap time like you never rested at all. Habits like falling asleep with the light on, checking your phone and emails right before dozing off, sleeping with the TV on, jumping in bed without showering or taking makeup off, neglecting to write a to-do list for the following day all can rob you of your best rest.  Which directly affects your performance the next day.

Every night I follow the same routine whether I go to bed at 11pm (which is usually a miracle if I can get to bed this early) or 3am. My rest routine helps me to control my quality of rest even when I can’t control the amount of it. Every night I carry out the following routine…

  • Begin to wind down with a cup of hot lemon and water.
  • Take 5 minutes to straighten my room and vacuum my floor
  • Set my phone on the charger and stay away from it
  • Turn on an audio book
  • Wash off my makeup and use my skincare
  • Take a hot shower and put on fresh PJ’s
  • Add essential oils and turn on my difusser
  • Grab my Success Journal, and write my grateful list, tomorrows to-do’s and my success scripts (which I’ll talk about in detail in a bit)

Following this routine helps me to get my body and mind prepared to rest in a clean, peaceful environment. Writing my to-do’s and gratitude lists help me clear my mind to receive ideas and answers as I rest.Create your own rest routine that maximizes your bedtime and sets you up to wake up and have a successful day.

Indulge in essential oils and organic products.
The use of essential oils and organic beauty and wellness products is one of the secrets to my success. One of my favorite brands is Wooden Spoon Herbs (woodenspoonherbs.com). This lovely apothecary has awesome products for ladies and self-care that are great to keep on hand.Their bone mend cream became a favorite of mine after I broke my foot. It’s great for joint relief and to apply after workouts as well. I’m in love with their golden cocoa powder with turmeric. It makes the best hot cocoa ever! It’s a great mid afternoon or early evening treat when I’m wishing for a warm dessert sans the sugar. One of my favorite Christmas presents I gave the ladies on my team was the Breast Butter.   Right before the holidays, one of my clients shared with me that after a visit to the doctor, she discovered that she had a lump the size of a golf ball on her breasts. Using the breast butter daily, she returned to the doctor weeks later to find that the lump had shriveled down to the size of a walnut. After hearing her story, I was even more excited to share this awesome product with my team. When it comes to plant based self-care, beauty products and herbal remedies Wooden Spoon Herbs never disappoints.

Essential oils have also become my go to products to promote wellness on a daily basis. I’ll quickly share with you a few of my favorites, but there are countless benefits from using essential oils so I encourage you to research even further.

During my nightly routine of cleansing my face, I roll on frankincense and myrrh. Out of any product I’ve ever used, these two oils have been the best combination to keep my skin nourished, clear, soft and beautiful.

When traveling I keep thieves oil spray on hand to sanitize my seat on the plane and hotel rooms.

I keep a diffuser in my office and on my nightstand. One of my favorite brands Saje, which is where I get most of my diffusers. Their oil blends lean more towards aromatherapy than healing properties per say, but I love them. During the day when working and I want to keep the atmosphere positive and energized I love to use liquid sunshine or energy. Before bed I enjoy their blends called tranquility or dream.

When ordering from other sources, I make sure that I get 100% organic blends with no extra fillers. They cost a bit more but the benefits are amazing. I love creating my own blend of wild orange and pure rose oil, which promotes overall wellness and smells incredibly lovely. Your mood and energy levels have a direct impact on your ability to be productive and profitable; which is why I’m so glad essential oils to my daily living practices.  Using them has helped me drastically upgrade my skin care regimen, my physical health, and the atmosphere at work and at home.

Script your success
Journaling is one of the best methods of self-care therapy. When you’re journaling consistently, you tend to ask questions about life, your direction and your business. The answers come to you intuitively and so your journal becomes like your personal guide to more success in life. When you get things out of your head and start writing them down you can easily formulate a plan. Use your journal to write what you want your life to be! For years I’ve kept a journal to chronicle my life, plan for my dreams and strategize my goals.  Writing my life script in my Success Journal is one of the important habits that I do daily.  Journaling empowers me to take my ideas and turn them into reality. What’s written is real. Once the words and images hit the paper, you have now crystallized a thought or idea. You can use the power of pen and paper to strategize and create anything you want.

Practice personal pampering.
You are your greatest investment. Pampering yourself a bit will help you to get ready to reach your yearly goals—when you feel good you perform good. Every week I make time for pampering whether it’s a nail appointment, pedicure, massage or getting my hair done. At some point in the week I take time to totally invest in me.

Please note just because you want to improve your personal care doesn’t mean its going to automatically happen. You have to plan for these things and weave them into the fabric of your life. Plan and set yourself up so that top notch personal care becomes a habit instead of a hard to execute task that you only do every now and then.

Set your intentions- what do you want to happen? Do you want to get better rest? Lose weight, upgrade your skin care, improve your mood? Get your body strong and free from disease? Or maybe you simply want to get a pedicure twice a month. Whatever it is make a plan for it.
The care and keep of you is the best investment you’ll ever make.

    Mercy!! This is everything! Being a full time entrepreneur in the service industry, wife and mother can keeps me on the move. Oftentimes taking care of everyone else and neglecting myself!
